Villa getting in to must win territory with the game just about to kick off.
Swansea are at home to Watford on Mon night. Win that and Newcastle drop into the bottom 3 and Chelsea are 4pts above the relegation zone having failed to win either of two home games this week.

Re: Other Saturday football
Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce told BBC Sport: "Our players put themselves in one fantastic position and then in the space of a minute conceded. It’s one of the reasons we ended up losing.

"If we came in at half-time 1-0 up we could have built on that. It was a really sloppy thing to do. We ran out of legs in the end. In the last quarter you could physically we were tiring.

"I changed the shape but that didn’t work. The scoreline, 4-1, looks more comfortable than it was. I’m disappointed we’ve lost 4-1. I could have accepted 2-1.

"Jordan Pickford has a bright future ahead of him. Playing a keeper at a young age is not an easy decision to make. But I thought he handled it well today. He might not play too many more games this season because Vito Mannone has done a fantastic job. The rest of the team up to 65 minutes were doing the job right but in the last 20 they failed miserably."

On Jan Kirchhoff: “There wasn’t a lot he could do about the deflection. But the penalty, you don’t hang a leg out there unless you’re certain you’ll win the ball. Hopefully he’ll learn quickly. It’s a bit risky signing players from abroad in January but we have to take that risk. Hopefully he learns from today."

On a non Sam related note, I really can't stand that lot from North London, that stadium, the badge, the kit, the fans, just everything about them I find abhorrent.

I suspect that, this season, our manager will be mostly deploying a "more points" strategy to overcome that particular statistic.

At 1-1 he goes more defensive in 59th min

Goes 2-1 in 60th min

That's brilliant, even by his standards

Re: Other Saturday football
Magnificent, textbook allardyce, this

Team doing well at 1-1. Take off attacking player, bring on defender, concede 3 in half an hour, 2 directly as a result of the player you've brought on, slump in your seat, prepare post match interview where it will be everyone else's fault

Spurs now with a goal difference of +20. Really grates with me that, can't deny it.

Re: Other Saturday football
I'm not particularly anti Sam nor am I pro Sam, I'm pretty ambivalent toward him.

However seeing him sitting there, chewing and looking clueless makes me very happy that he no longer represents our football club.

Getting a pasting from Savage on commentary, makes a change to hear someone in the media being negative toward him.
